We're over another hurdle!

I figured that this was as good of a time as any to start this blog. We wanted to start this blog to specifically take you on our journey with us as we go through the adoption process.

Our new news first - we had our home inspection last night, and we passed!!! They basically had to come to our house and determine whether or not we had a habitable home for a child. We basically had to baby-proof our home and they had to verify that our house adheres to legal code. They had to verify that we had stuff like a fire extinguisher and smoke detectors. Basically they didn't want to see anything dangerous. This is the last major hurdle to overcome to be approved for adoption.

We now have to finish our solicitation - so to speak - which is what explains ourselves to our prospective birth parents. The adoption agency now has to create what I recall is called "The Home Study" which is a basically a huge document that goes over every detail of our journey so far. It includes our interviews with them, our home inspection, our 20 page questionnaire, our references, our income, our expectations, hopes, learning process, and our life history, etc. Then that has to be presented before an adoption committee before we're approved to become prospective adoptive parents.

We're getting very excited at the prospect. It's been a long journey so far, but we have learned so much and we're trying to remember how much we have been blessed even though we've been unable to bring a child into this world naturally.

Colette and I would like to welcome you to follow with us along our journey to becoming parents! We love you and thank you for your support!
